History of GAC

A Second Chance Resource Center Network United, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that was established in 2016. The history of the organization started in 2013 as a statewide and national community outreach web-based initiative, providing access to a dedicated website and portal that disadvantaged individuals, and families by providing a holistic approach engaging community partners to help individuals and families find their way to self-sufficiency. Creating economic opportunities, helping rebuild sustainable and “Healthy Communities”.

Apart of rebuilding sustainable and “Healthy Communities”, A Second Chance Resource Center Network United, Inc. recognized the need for more youth involvement across the state of South Carolina. Give a Chance Youth Development Program (GAC) was established under the umbrella of A Second Chance Resource Center, adopting the holistic approach GAC will provide youth programming that actualize the youth full potential.

“Give A Chance” Youth Development Program (GAC) support and focus on services that provide youth and young adults with education enrichment, health and wellness, career development, financial education, technology education, mentoring, sports development, personal and family development education. Empowering individuals and families to make positive choices that will reduce and or remove social barriers and promote economic independence and self-sufficiency.

Using a holistic approach, we provide case management services to our youth, young adults, and their families. Fostering and developing partnerships over the years have afforded A Second Chance Resource Center the opportunity to have workforce partnerships throughout the communities that assist our youth and young adults with part-time, full-time, temporary, summer, seasonal and permanent employment. Our job readiness components provide pre-employment, attitudinal and soft-skills training, job search, job coaching, financial education, job placement assistance and post-placement services.

Our community engagement programs entail participation with many of our community partners throughout the year. We sponsor two annual events that is inclusive of our youth and young adults, “Save our Youth, Our Next Generation Forum” and our “Annual Resource Workforce and Health Fair”. These opportunities and support lead our youth and young adults to success and allow them to participate and connect to resources that promote economic independence, workforce opportunities and self-sufficiency.
